After a decade of evading the law, a man from Louisville, Kentucky, finally found himself in handcuffs—right after stepping off a cruise ship in Miami!
Dominic Weaver, who authorities say owes nearly $100,000 in child support, was taken into custody last week while disembarking from his vacation. For over 10 years, Weaver managed to dodge paying child support, and even appeared on a list of delinquent parents in 2019 and 2021. During that time, he was sentenced to five years of probation for flagrant non-support, but, as authorities pointed out, he never paid a single penny towards his child support.
So, how did Weaver get caught? Miami police nabbed him as he was getting off the cruise ship, and soon after, detectives from the Jefferson County child support division flew down to Florida to bring him back to Louisville.
He now sits behind bars at Louisville Metro Corrections, facing charges of flagrant non-support and a probation violation from a previous felony. His probation was supposed to end in October 2024, but instead, he’s looking at even more legal trouble. In fact, authorities say he has four child support cases pending, and could face even more felony charges soon!
Weaver’s next court appearance is on January 6, 2025, and it’s likely his legal battles are far from over.
