Newark’s Public Safety Director, Emmanuel Miranda Sr., is reaching out to the public for help after a security guard was stabbed during an incident at a local nightclub early Monday morning. The shocking event took place at Lit 21, a popular restaurant, nightclub, and sports bar located on McCarter Highway.
It was around 2 a.m. when things took a dangerous turn. As a private event was wrapping up, the security guard was helping to escort guests out of the venue’s lower level. That’s when a man entered from upstairs and refused to leave, sparking an argument. Things quickly escalated, and after the guard struck the suspect in the face, the situation turned violent. The suspect, a 5-foot-8 Black male with dreadlocks, stabbed the guard before fleeing the scene.
The injured security guard was rushed to a nearby hospital, but authorities are working hard to track down the suspect. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or has information to come forward.
If you were around the area or have any leads, your help could make a big difference. Let’s work together to bring this person to justice and ensure that our community stays safe!
Stay tuned for updates, and please share any information with the Newark Police if you can help.
