In Travelers Rest, South Carolina, a man accused of attempted murder and several other crimes was arrested on Friday. The incident unfolded in mid-December, and it has been a tense few weeks for the local community.
It all began on December 15, when police were called to West Road after reports of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered that a heated dispute had erupted among several people. According to investigators, things took a dangerous turn when Joshua Dayton McMorris, after a violent altercation with his girlfriend, grabbed a gun and started firing toward the group. Thankfully, only minor injuries were reported, but the situation could have been much worse.
As a result of his actions, McMorris is now facing several serious charges, including attempted murder, first-degree domestic violence, third-degree assault and battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Fast forward to Friday, January 3, McMorris decided to turn himself in. With the help of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office FASIT team, he peacefully surrendered at around 5 p.m. Now, he’s in custody at the Greenville County Detention Center.
