In a recent bust, a 19-year-old San Jose man was arrested on suspicion of selling illegal “ghost guns” — firearms that are untraceable and often assembled without serial numbers. The arrest happened on December 18, following an investigation that started back in late October. Authorities discovered a social media account being used to buy and sell these weapons, many of which were homemade.
San Jose police, with help from detectives, quickly identified the suspect and found that he wasn’t just making guns — he was also importing high-capacity magazines from Florida and Nevada to sell in the Bay Area. To make the sale even more tempting, the suspect posted videos of himself firing the guns in public spaces like East Palo Alto and San Jose. He even filmed on school campuses and open fields to draw in potential buyers.
One chilling photo shared on his social media showed him holding a firearm at a mall in San Jose, further raising alarms about his activities.
The investigation has shed light on how easily illegal weapons can be bought and sold online, and how some people are willing to go to extreme lengths to make a profit. Thankfully, this case was resolved before anyone got hurt.
This arrest serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by ghost guns and the importance of staying vigilant in our communities. Stay informed and stay safe!
