A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Jersey City early Thursday morning when a woman and two young children were fatally stabbed in what officials are calling a case of domestic violence.
The victims, a 5-year-old, a 9-year-old, and an adult woman, were found inside an apartment on Hutton Street, according to Mayor Steven Fulop. Sadly, all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the suspect, a man, then attempted to harm himself before being taken into custody. His identity and any possible charges have not yet been released.
“This was a terrible triple homicide that occurred last night related to domestic violence,” Mayor Fulop shared in a statement.
Law enforcement officials are still investigating the details of the case.
