Authorities responded to reports of gunfire and discovered a 16-year-old male inside a residence at 405 Contentnea Street with a gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to ECU Health Medical Center, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not released any additional details regarding the circumstances of the shooting or the possible motive behind the incident.
