A three-year-old boy died after being abandoned outside SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, covered in bruises. The NYPD is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, while grieving family members urge the child’s mother to come forward.
Authorities report that just before 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, a car pulled up outside the hospital in East Flatbush. A woman exited the vehicle and left the unresponsive child on the concrete near the entrance. A man, who was behind the wheel, then drove away, leaving the child outside.
Hospital staff attempted to revive the boy but were unsuccessful. Medical personnel noted that the child had visible bruising all over his body. Reports from sources, including the New York Post, indicate that the child appeared to have been severely beaten. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
At this time, police have not made any arrests. The cause of death has yet to be determined, and authorities have not released the child’s identity. It remains unclear whether the two individuals who dropped him off were his parents.
On Monday, two women claiming to be the child’s grandmother and godmother visited the hospital to mourn his passing. Kanyatta Foster, who identified herself as the grandmother, expressed her heartbreak and devastation over the child’s death, stating that she does not know how to cope with the tragedy.
Sabrina Johnson, the boy’s godmother, made an emotional plea for the child’s mother to come forward. She urged the mother to take responsibility, saying that no one else could claim the child as their own. She emphasized that if the mother loved her son the way others had cared for her, she should turn herself in.
Authorities continue their investigation to determine the details surrounding the child’s death. The case has raised concerns and questions about who was responsible and what events led to the child being abandoned outside the hospital. The NYPD is asking anyone with information to come forward as they work to uncover the truth.
