Three Men, Four Homes, and $250K in Stolen Goods: What Happened?
Picture this: a quiet night in the Muttontown and Old Westbury areas late last year, with families tucked away and houses dark. It was the perfect setting for a group of burglars to strike. But their crime spree didn’t stay under the radar for long.
Authorities have arrested three men—David Fernando Moreno Hernandez, Juan Pablo Orjuela-Saavedra, and Ivan Stewar Ramirez-Villalobos—all from New Jersey. They’re now facing some serious charges: second-degree burglary.
How They Did It
Detectives say the trio had a clear method. Late at night, when no one was home, they broke in through rear windows and sliding glass doors. Once inside, they didn’t just take a few things—they ransacked bedrooms, snatching up everything from jewelry and gold to designer handbags, family heirlooms, and even safes. The total haul? Over $250,000 worth of valuables.
The Chase for Justice
It wasn’t just one local police team that cracked the case. It took nearly three months and a collaborative effort involving Nassau County Police, Customs and Border Patrol, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Talk about teamwork!
Two of the suspects are now being held at the Nassau County Police Headquarters in Mineola and are set for arraignments. The third suspect is still in New Jersey, awaiting extradition.
What’s Next?
Police are keeping the exact locations of the burglarized homes under wraps for now. As the investigation continues, families in the area can rest a little easier knowing these suspects are off the streets.
