A Jacksonville driver has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal crash in the parking lot of Charleston Place Apartments. The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, March 6th, just before 10 p.m., when 25-year-old Sage Simmons was behind the wheel of a Ford Focus. According to Jacksonville police, Simmons was driving in reverse in the parking lot when he struck 23-year-old Jaide Simmons, who was walking in the area, as well as a parked Buick sedan.
Following the crash, Jaide Simmons was immediately rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Tragically, police later confirmed that she had died from her injuries.
